Ruiz Leads Mean Green At Houston Diving Invite

HOUSTON - The North Texas diving team concluded the Houston Diving Invitational on Saturday at the CRWC Natatorium.

The one- and three-meter events took place on Friday with senior Averie Ruiz placing third in the one-meter dive with a score of 218.05, followed by sophomore Meghan Miller at fourth with a score of 217.60.

Ruiz took fifth in the three-meter dive with a score of 222.80. Ruiz had the highest dive difficulty of all 17 participants in both events on day one.

On Saturday, Miller earned the top finish for UNT from the platform, scoring a 175.50 to place fifth. She was followed by freshman Altaira Wallquist, who took sixth with a score of 171.15.

Wallquist finished ninth in the one-meter event (197.75) and 11th in the three-meter event (192.15). Junior Gaby Silva took eighth in the one-meter dive (200.55) and 13th in the three-meter dive (185.00).

The Mean Green are back in action on October 20 in a double-dual meet against SMU and Houston at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center in Dallas.
