Feb. 16, 2018

HUMBLE, Texas - Junior Thomas Rosenmueller fired a first-round 67 on Friday to finish his opening round of the spring season 5-under par and in a tie for second place at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.

Rosenmueller finished with six birdies on the day and is two shots back of first-day leader Brandon Mancheno of Auburn.

The Mean Green also got strong performances from junior Ian Snyman (3-under 69) and freshman Viktor Forslund, who shot a 2-under 70 to open the spring season. North Texas sits in a tie for fifth place with No. 30 South Carolina and South Alabama in the team standings after the first round. No. 10 Auburn and Houston are tied atop the leaderboard at 14-under. North Texas shot a 7-under 281.

"It was a great start to our spring season," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "I definitely see where Maridoe Golf Club has helped the guys prepare for this venue. Thomas, Ian and Viktor played solid throughout the day. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's round."

The Mean Green will continue play on Saturday morning, and live results can be found here.
