UNT Finishes In Seventh Place At All-American Intercollegiate

Feb. 18, 2018

HUMBLE, Texas - North Texas improved upon a Round 2 stumble in Sunday's third and final round of the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston and finished the three-day tournament in seventh place while battling a stacked field.

Five of the six teams that finished ahead of the Mean Green are nationally ranked squads - No. 10 Auburn, No. 3 Baylor, No. 48 Ole Miss, No. 30 South Carolina and No. 13 Wake Forest. The other team ahead of North Texas was host Houston.

As a team, North Texas finished the tournament 4-under par after turning in a 1-under par in Sunday's final round - a five-stroke improvement on Saturday's round. UNT finished the tournament with a 281-292-287-860 - three shots ahead of SMU and South Alabama, who tied for eighth place. No. 10 Auburn won the tournament at 42-under par.

Junior Ian Snyman led the way for North Texas, as he went 2-under on the day to finish at 6-under for the tournament in a tie for 11th place overall.

"The guys got off to a good start this spring," Mean Green head coach Brad Stracke said. "I feel like we are capable of scoring a lot lower on this course, but overall I am happy with their performance. Ian lead the way individually. It's just a matter of time before he wins a college event."

The Mean Green will get back to competition on Feb. 25 and 26 in the N.I.T. in Tucson, Arizona.
