COLORADO SPRINGS - Senior middle blocker Amanda Chamberlain will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the annual U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Chamberlain is one of 234 athletes and 50 middle blockers from 90 schools vying for a spot on the U.S. Women's National Team and U.S. Collegiate National Team.
The four-session tryout process begins Friday's from 3-9 p.m. CT. Saturday's morning session begins at 9 a.m. CT and will focus on serve/receive and individual work. The afternoon session will be middle-centered and work on out-of-system focus. The final session Sunday begins at 8:30 a.m. CT with tournament-style play, along with 16 to 18 athletes selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff.
A two-time all-region selection, Chamberlain finished sixth in Division I with a .436 hitting percentage, a single-season program record. A three-time Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, she led the team in kills (348), block solos (24), block assists (98) and total blocks (122).
