DENTON - North Texas women's basketball's leading scorer Terriell Bradley was held to her fewest points in conference play as the Mean Green fell 69-51 to UAB Thursday afternoon at the Super Pit.

Bradley, who entered Thursday averaging 21.5 points per game in conference, finished with 11 points on 4-of-15 shooting and was 0-for-3 from deep.

The Blazers' high-powered offense was on full display as they set the tone early. They opened the game with seven straight points and stretched out their lead to as many as 20 before settling on a 18-point win.

"Every time we had an opportunity.to cut into the lead we would either miss a shot or give up a shot," head coach Jalie Mitchell said. "We were not taking advantage of those opportunities."

North Texas (15-12, 6-9 C-USA) struggled offensively to start the game, missing their first six shots before Micayla Buckner's layup put the Mean Green on the board. The Blazers (23-5, 12-3 C-USA) built a double-digit lead and held on to it by shooting 51 percent for the entire game.

The Mean Green had stretches of their dynamic defense that has led them to their first winning season in 12 years, and brokedown UAB's lead to single digits multiple times, but the momentum would break on UAB made baskets.

With the help of hot 3-point shooting, UNT has made larger comebacks earlier in the season, but Thursday the shots weren't falling. The Mean Green finished 1-of-10 from 3-point range, the fewest 3-pointers they've made in a game since their 64-38 win over Texas A&M International on Nov. 14 -- the second game of the year.

Thursday was North Texas' final home game of the year. The Mean Green finish with a 9-6 mark in the Super Pit. It's the most home wins they've had in a season in 12 years.

North Texas concludes the regular season on Saturday at Rice at 4:30 p.m. CT before they head to Frisco to play in the C-USA Tournament. Saturday's game will be aired live on ESPN3 and on KNTU 88.1 FM

"We have had two of the top three teams to finish the regular season. I like that, because it's a great opportunity to get ready for the conference tournament. If we are going to make some noise and be our best then we need to be ready to step up," Mitchell said.
