AUSTIN - The North Texas track and field teams had a solid showing at the four-day 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays from March 28-31.
21 student-athletes participated in the largest track and field meets in the United States this week and came away with a lot of solid results. The Mean Green had seven top-10 finishes in several different events.
In the 1500-meter run, sophomore Tim Jones came in second with a personal-best time of 3:53.66 in the Second B final. Freshman Shane Bracken was 10th at 3:56.71.
In the 5000-meter run, senior Christina Moralez finished 13th with a time of 17:11.57. Sophomore Florian Lussy placed third in the 5000m run with a personal-best time of 14:22.29 and senior Mike Lowe was the fifth collegiate finisher at 14:25.49.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the North Texas team of freshman Taylor Blackshire, freshman Aneesa Scott, junior Bria Williams and sophomore Breanna Eckels finished 21st with a time of 46.70. On the men's side, freshman Darrien Porter, junior James Cole, senior Alford Tribble and senior Dominique Drayden came in 29th at 41.56.
In the 4x400-meter relay, freshman Brittni Emanuel, freshman Lauryn McCullum, freshman Lyric Choice and Scott came in 24th at 3:48.51.
Sophomore Javier Lopez-Ibarra came in fifth in javelin with a throw of 63.15 meters (207-2 feet). Eckels finished fifth in long jump with a personal best jump of 6.19 meters (20-3.75 feet), fifth-best in school history.
Junior Rea Iseli was the fourth collegiate finisher in the 1500-meter Section A final with a time of 4:29.42.
-Williams finished 65th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.06
-Blackshire was 72nd in the 100m dash at 12.10
-Choice was 58th in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.56
-Porter came in 34th in the 100m dash at 10.51
-Tribble was 76th in the 100m dash at 10.82
-Freshman Joseph Squire finished 44th at 14.70
-Junior Kristyn Achuleta was 12th in Section A javelin, finishing behind 11 power conference schools.
-Sophomore Karl Sralla finished eighth in Section B discus at 49.84 meters (163-06 feet)
North Texas will head to the Baylor Invitational on April 7 in Waco.
