DENTON - The North Texas softball team opens Conference USA play with a three-game home series with Charlotte, beginning Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m.

The Mean Green have lost all four meetings with the 49ers and they all came in the 2017 season. Charlotte swept UNT in a weekend series in North Carolina and knocked the Mean Green out of the 2017 C-USA tournament in the first round.

Since joining Conference USA in 2014, North Texas is 9-3 in their first league series at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green swept UTEP in last year's C-USA opening series.

The team went 1-4 as the host of last week's North Texas Invitational, defeating UT Arlington 9-8 on an eighth-inning walk-off in the final game of the weekend. The offense was led by outfielder Hanna Rebar, who homered in each of the final three games of the weekend, including her first career grand slam.

North Texas has hit 23 home runs through 16 games, including eight home runs in five North Texas Invitational games, and rank sixth in Division I with 1.44 home runs per game. Rebar leads the squad with seven round-trippers and ranks eighth in the nation with 0.44 home runs per game.

After posting a team ERA of 5.53 in the North Texas Invitational, the Mean Green pitching staff gets to face a Charlotte team that ranks dead last in the league in runs, hits, home runs, RBI and total bases.
