More fans came to Apogee Stadium to see North Texas football games in 2017 than any of the previous seven seasons the stadium has been open. The average attendance this fall was 22,362, eclipsing the previous record of 21,030 set during the 2013 season. The Mean Green recorded a perfect 6-0 home record at Apogee in 2017, which was also the first time that has ever happened in stadium history.
North Texas had three of the top six crowds ever at Apogee in 2017, including the second-largest crowd in stadium history when 26,392 showed up to watch the Mean Green defeat Army on Nov. 18. Season and single-game ticket sales also hit all-time highs for North Texas football. Revenue for season tickets increased 10.9 percent from 2016 to 2017 and single-game revenue increased by 52 percent. Group ticket sales saw the biggest increase, going up over 275 percent from the previous year.
The Mean Green open the 2018 season on Saturday, Sept. 1, when they host Metroplex rival SMU.
