Adrian Awasom is one of only 27 players in North Texas history to earn all-conference honors three consecutive years, including first team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2003 and 2004. He was a second team selection in 2002. He lettered all four years at North Texas, from 2001-04, helping his team to four Sun Belt Conference championships and four straight New Orleans Bowl appearances. He ranks second in Mean Green history with 20 career quarterback sacks and fifth in UNT history in tackles for loss with 32. His career sacks total also ranks eighth among all Sun Belt Conference players in their career. Awasom led a defense that posted a 25-1 record against Sun Belt Conference opponents. His senior season he ranked 24th among all NCAA FBS players in quarterback sacks. He started in 37 of the 50 total games he played in during his time at North Texas. Awasom played four seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings. He was a member of the Giants Super Bowl XLII championship team.
