Bernard Jackson rushed for school-record 2,256 yards during his brief career with the Eagles in 1977-80. Despite playing just one game as a freshman and one as a senior, Jackson rushed for 100 yards or more 12 times. He set a school record for rushing yards in a season with 1,453 in 1978.
Jackson's life was cut short when he was shot to death early in his senior year at North Texas.
