Crest Whitaker was a versatile athlete who lettered in track and basketball from 1967 to 1970. He was named all-Missouri Valley Conference after leading the league in field goal percentage during the 1968-69 season.
He also won a MVC title in the triple jump in track.
Although Whitaker did not play football at North Texas, he did play a season in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.
