Duane Abbey helped North Texas capture Lone Star Conference track championships in 1935, 1936 and 1937.
He won the mile event three consecutive years at the Border Olympics and Fort Worth Stock Show meet and was also a member of the relay teams that set meet records at the Texas Relays, Penn Relays and Drake Relays.
