The leading scorer on the Eagles' basketball team for three consecutive seasons, Hopkins remains the school's fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,535 career points.

His 23.3-point scoring average during the 1955-56 season still ranks No. 4 in school history, and Hopkins remains in the school's top 10 in career field-goal percentage and made field goals.
