Mike Hagler was one of the most versatile track athletes at North Texas during the 1954-55 season despite his career being cut short by illness. He was a member of the 880-yard, the mile and the sprint-medley relay teams, which were among the best in the nation at the time.
The sprint-medley relay team in 1955 won the championship at the Texas Relays. The 1955 season also saw Hagler and the mile relay team win the Drake Relays and set new records at the Border Olympics, the Southwest Recreational Meet, the Kansas Relays along with setting a new North Texas record.
Hagler graduated in 1957 and went onto coach track, football, and basketball.
