Jeff Bennet (8/23/05)
Jeff Bennet was a three-year letterman and played shortstop and third base on the North Texas baseball team from 1983-85. A few of the highlights of his baseball career were that he hit six doubles in a double-header against Texas Tech and scored the winning run on a passed ball against a fourth-ranked Oklahoma.
Jeff currently resides in Lakeland, TN, which is a suburb of Memphis. He met his wife Lori in Dallas and they have two children, Ashley, 13, and Blake, 10, who are both involved in a lot of activities. Jeff is a National Sales Manager for Dart Advantage Transportation, and also owns a private aviation catering company called Air Catering Solutions.
Jeff says of his time at North Texas, "I met several teammates from other states and backgrounds. It was a true college experience and I enjoyed it. I wish I could go back in time and realize then the time and effort that Coach Price was donating to the program. He was retired and was doing this to help out UNT and enjoyed the challenges. Now that I am older and in a better financial situation I would like to make an effort to give back to the Athletic Department, possibly with the new baseball program! Keep up the good work in promoting UNT through its alumni as I look forward to participating!!!"
Jeff also mentioned he is still in touch with teammates Dave McDonough in Westchester, NY, Danny Suges who is in Coppell, TX, Pepper Hastings who is in Dallas, TX, and Trent Jewitt who is a AAA coach for Indianapolis for the Pittsburgh Pirates system. Jeff also said, "Often I wonder where some of the others like Brad Lang, Steve Cottage, Steve Pierce, John Fallon, Brad Anderson, David Brezette, and some of the others are."
