John Wylie played men's soccer under Coach Lowe from 1988-91. He was originally from R.L. Turner High School and was a four-year starter at North Texas. Wylie anchored one of the best defenses in school history during his tenure at North Texas.
Upon graduation Wylie play semi-pro soccer in Dallas and then went on to play professionally in Germany from 1993-96. One of his teams won a championship in the Regionalliga of North Germany. In 1996 Wylie was picked up by the Dallas Burn for their inaugural season, but was not released by his team in Germany. The next year he was able to try out with the Burn but blew out his ankle and that ended his professional career.
