The University of North Texas is committed and obligated to uphold the rules of the NCAA in all of its athletics programs. Your athletic department compliance office works to identify and reduce areas of risk that could negatively impact our institution. As boosters, you play an integral role in that process. Without your contributions to our programs, we could not function effectively, but you must be aware of the NCAA Bylaws pertaining to your special status as boosters. Education and awareness are keys to protecting not only you, but the eligibility of the student-athletes as well. The compliance office provides booster brochures, faq's, and a website to help you. We appreciate your support, but remember, "ASK BEFORE YOU ACT."
The compliance office will provide you with a commonly asked question by boosters with an answer in each issue. Please feel free to submit any future questions you would like featured.
As a booster, can I employ a student-athlete?
Yes, you may employ a student-athlete, but that individual must be paid only for actual work done at the going rate of similar work in that area. NCAA Bylaw 15.2.7
