Three Mean Green Take First Place Honors at ACU

ABILENE, Texas – Sydney Salinas, Brock Hottel and Liah Collins of North Texas track and field each earned first place Wednesday at the Oliver Jackson Twilight Invitational hosted by Abilene Christian, while Chris Samaniego set a pair of personal records and collected two runner-up finishes inside Elmer Grey Stadium.
Salinas reached a career-height of 3.92 meters in pole vault while Hottel performed at a season-best 4.95, and Collins ran the 800-meter dash in 2:20.03. Samaniego collected marks of 16.89 meters in shot put and 56.56 in the hammer throw.
Haley Walker also finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.51 meters, and Amaris Chavez came in second in the 5k in a time of 18:50.10.
Jacob VanPatten had a career-day in pole vault with a height of 4.70 meters for third place, and Laurynn Hogan was third in the 1500-meter run in 4:57.72.
The Mean Green head to the Bobcat Classic hosted by Texas State April 30-May 1.
