Track & Field Advances Three to NCAA Championships

Hill, Dove and Anunagba will compete in Austin June 7-10
DENTON, Texas – With Karlington Anunagba crossing the finish line in 10.17 seconds Friday night at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif., UNT Track & Field will send three student-athletes to the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Anunagba's time of 10.17 in the 100 meters was the fifth-best in heat two and No. 10 overall, giving him the necessary top-12 finish to advance to the national meet. The senior from Lagos, Nigeria, will compete in the men's 100-meter semifinals Wednesday, June 7, at 7:46 p.m. CT.

KeAyla Dove placed fourth in the women's shot put first round with a throw of 59-6.75 (18.15m) to move on to the national meet. The junior from Houston, Texas, will compete for the women's shot put championship Thursday, June 8, at 9:30 p.m. CT.

Zion Hill had the seventh-best throw in the men's javelin first round, a 231-3 (70.48m) mark that sends him to Austin to compete for a championship. The senior from Bridgetown, Barbados, will compete in the men's javelin final on Wednesday, June 7, at 5:30 p.m. CT.

The three NCAA Championship qualifiers is the most non-relay participants for UNT at Nationals since 1983 when Donna Thomas (long jump), Johnny Walker (800 meters), Lynn Howe (400-meter hurdles) and the men's 4x 400-meter relay team (Lynn Howe, Doug Jackson, Richard Pace, Johnny Walker) all advanced to the big stage.
