Julian Forde to Compete for Barbados at World Indoor Track & Field Championships

DENTON, Texas — UNT sprinter Julian Forde will represent his home country of Barbados at the 2025 World Indoor Track & Field Championships in Nanjing, China.
Forde will run the 60 meters beginning with the preliminary round late Thursday night and into Friday morning. If he is to advance, the semifinal would take place at approximately 7 a.m. CT Friday morning followed by the finals at 8:25 a.m. CT.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to compete on the world stage," Forde said. "It's a milestone I've always been workig toward and it feels surreal that I'm in China at the World Championships. I'm hoping to make my family, coaches and country proud."
The senior placed second at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in the 60 meters with a time of 6.64. His qualifying time is tied for the No. 37 mark among registered athletes in the meet.
The 2025 World Indoor Track and Field Championships will air live this weekend on Peacock. Additional coverage may be available on NBC and CNBC.
