A throw of 14.97m earned Maples a 4th place finish in the shot put at the H-Town SpeedCity Series.

With a heft of 14.85m at the C-USA Championships Maples earned a new personal record in the weight throw.

A throw of 38.62m in the hammer throw earned Maples a 4th place finish at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational.

At his first meet for the Mean Green, Maples throw 13.39m in the shot put at the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational.
