Karina Aguilar was named Head Athletic Trainer for Cross Country and Track & Field at North Texas in July 2024.
Aguilar oversees the day-to-day sports medicine operations for the Mean Green cross country and track and field programs, providing injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols for student-athletes. She works closely with physicians, physical therapists, strength and conditioning staff and coaches to develop comprehensive care plans while also serving as a preceptor for athletic training students. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Aguilar coordinates the medical operations for North Texas track and field meets and assists with team travel nutrition and sports medicine equipment management.
During the 2026 season, Aguilar served as the athletic trainer for the Mean Green women's indoor track and field team as North Texas captured the American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship.
Before joining North Texas, Aguilar spent two years as the athletic trainer at North Dallas High School, where she provided medical coverage for all athletic programs, developed rehabilitation plans, managed emergency action plans and coordinated injury documentation and return-to-play protocols.
Aguilar earned a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Texas State in 2022 after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M in 2020. During her athletic training education, she gained clinical experience with Texas State men's basketball, football, softball, cross country and track and field, Canyon Lake High School and completed a football internship at North Texas in 2021.
