Eric Capper joined the North Texas athletics staff in 2001 and serves on the senior leadership team as the senior associate director of athletics for community engagement and alumni relations. Capper is charged with all affairs of alumni relations with former Mean Green student-athletes.
Capper has worked in various capacities with North Texas Athletics, most recently overseeing strategic communications efforts for all 16 NCAA Div. I athletic teams. He worked most closely with the Mean Green football program for 20 years, helping to organize public relations and publicity efforts for teams that competed in nine bowl games and produced eight All-Americans and 15 NFL players.
Capper came to North Texas from the Big Sky Conference office, where he was the assistant commissioner for information and media services. He worked as a graduate assistant in the sports information office at the University of Iowa and earned his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University.
He has been a part of teams that have hosted several NCAA and conference championship events, including the NCAA men's Final Four, College World Series and Bowl Championship Series games. He also assisted the North Texas local organizing committee for Super Bowl XLV and the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship game. He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, College Sports Information Directors of America and the National Football Writers Association of America.
Capper and his wife, Shara, have one son, Casen.
