DENTON (10/11/05) - After falling in only its second conference game of the last five seasons, the Mean Green (1-3, 1-1) travels to Sun Belt newcomer Florida International (1-3, 0-1) this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5 pm, central time. The game is not televised but can be heard on the Mean Green radio network.
The Mean Green owned the nation’s second longest conference winning streak of 26 games before the loss to Troy. North Texas has won four straight conference titles and has played in four consecutive bowl games. This season marks the first in Division I-A for Florida International. The Golden Panthers spent three seasons as a I-AA independent before jumping into the Sun Belt. FIU opened the year with losses to Kansas State, Texas Tech and Arkansas State before winning its last game against Florida A&M.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools. Florida International began its football program as a Division I-AA independent in 2002.
