DENTON (9/16/05) - The Mean Green Athletic Department hosted the Denton Chamber of Commerce monthly membership mixer on Thursday night. The event, which drew more than 300 members of the local business community to the new athletic center, was co-hosted by North Texas Athletics, Outback Steakhouse and Coca Cola.
North Texas Athletics Director Rick Villarreal took some time to address the guests before door prize drawings were given away. Villarreal was the 2004 recipient of the Chamber of Commerce's "Otis Fowler Award." The event was emceed by Hank Dickenson, North Texas Senior Associate Athletic Director who serves as a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
"It was a pleasure to have so many of our great supporters here at the new athletic building," said Dickenson. "The back patio area behind the weight room is a terrific place for an outdoor gathering. This event gave us a chance to continue to sell the vision of a new stadium to prominent members of the business community in Denton. Plus, that particular group always responds to Rick, so we were able to sell a few more tickets to Saturday's game versus Tulsa."
Mean Green Club members who were in attendance were able to pick up the gifts associated with ther contribution levels. Gifts will also be available for pick up on the Troy and Sarah LaGrone/Ben E. Keith Hospitality Deck by gate 1 at Fouts Field. Items will be avialbale beginning at 3:30.
