I've got a grooming confession to make. I'm notorious for being a little on the lazy side when it comes to shaving. Depending upon the time of the year, my facial hair can resemble peach fuzz, a grizzly bear, or Sasquatch.
So it was around mid-to-late December, I was flipping around and I happened to catch a K-State basketball game on TV. A weird phenomena had just taken root, not only was this dude a pretty good player, he was doing it with a full grown Abraham Lincoln beard!
Beards aren't cool anymore, if they ever were please let me know, especially in sports.
No doubt by now you have heard of Jacob Pullen if you're a Mean Green fan. His fame has grown exponentially due to his play on the court and the spawning of the "Fear The Beard" following.
It got me thinking, who for North Texas in history has a beard that can counter Pullen's chops?
I struggled at first, but then the obvious one hit me, Mean Joe Greene. His beard with the Steelers was quite possibly the most feared beard to ever suit up in a uniform. What was even better was during his playing days his beard was just a pile of hair like a Beavis and Butthead episode gone bad, it was well kept, classy beard.
So when it comes to beards to fear, Pullen vs. Greene, edge to North Texas.
In all seriousness the beard is merely a sideshow, Pullen is one of the most explosive guards in the nation and his beard has just added some mystique.
As for me, I came into OKC bearded up, but took care of that last night.
For North Texas to pull the upset, the beard trimmers will have to come out tomorrow afternoon.
