He continues to show no fear and freshman Rodolfo Cazaubon has added another notch to his golf bag. Cazaubon shot a 3-under par today and made the cut at the Nationwide Tour's Mexico Open. Cazaubon entered the day needing a good round after a 2-over par and he delivered.
The native of Mexico posted five birdies today, same as yesterday, but this time he cut way down on bogey's and had only two.
Hence he climbed the leaderboard and is tied for 28th place heading into the weekend. Cazaubon is 1-under par, eight shots behind the leader so if you're thinking about a possible upset, it will take a few rounds of 67 on Saturday and Sunday to even have a chance.
Teammate and countryman Carlos Ortiz didn't fare quite as well as he shot a 77 in the second round to miss the cut. However Ortiz will now gear up for the U.S. Public Links Championship in mid-July that he qualified for last week.
And I know there are still some Keoke Cotner fans out there, but the former Mean Green great didn't make the cut either.
Should be a fun weekend though for "Rodo" and you can follow his progress this weekend here.
I also can't forget to mention that one of my favorites Anthony Broussard is in third place at the Beaumont Open after three rounds, just four shots back. He has been working awfully hard at his game since he left North Texas two years ago and I guarantee you that he will be a Nationwide Tour member very soon.
