University of North Texas Athletics
Green Gang: A Sneak Peek
7/20/2010 12:00:00 AM | Return to Play
By Zach Barnett
At tonight's THSCA All-Star Game in San Antonio, North Texas will be represented by two future and two former Mean Green. First, let's discuss the future Mean Green.
Representing North Texas on the North squad will be Blake Dunham, a linebacker signee from Argyle, and Mason Y'Barbo an offensive lineman from Sulphur Springs.
After transferring from Coppell, Dunham helped the Argyle defense hold opposing offenses to just 12.2 points per game in 2009 while compiling 123 tackles, six TFL and one interception. In addition, he was also the Eagles' deep snapper and rushed for seven touchdowns on just 19 carries.
Y'Barbo earned Third Team All-State honors in Class 4A last season as a center for Sulphur Springs. As a junior, he helped lead the Wildcats to the Class 4A Division II State Championship. Y'Barbo is also a power lifter, competing in Texas High School Power Lifting Association events during football's offseason. He claims squats and dead lifts of 560 pounds each.
In addition to the gridiron, North Texas will also be represented in the broadcast booth. North Texas alums Craig Way and George Dunham will broadcast the game for Fox Sports Southwest. Way is a familiar voice at the THSCA All-Star Game, the play-by-play man for the Texas Longhorns is also the voice of Texas high school football. The edler Dunham is the father of Blake and, of course, the voice of your North Texas Mean Green.
Don't miss your first chance to see live football in 2010. The game will kickoff from the Alamodome at 7:30 p.m. Check your local listings for broadcast information. There will also be a live stream on FoxSportsSouthwest.com.
