Thompson Named SBC Player Of The Week

DENTON, Texas - Quarterback Derek Thompson was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after leading the Mean Green to a 38-33 victory at Troy. Thompson set a North Texas single-game record by completing 82 percent of his passes - going 31-of-38 to lead North Texas to its first win ever at Troy.
It was the fifth-best single-game completion percentage by an FBS quarterback with a minimum of 30 attempts this season.
Thompson was responsible for three touchdowns in the game - two passing and one rushing and had a pass efficiency rating of 166.9. He threw for 331 yards and had 16 yards rushing for a total of 347 yards. Thompson completed 17 consecutive passes in the game - just six shy of an NCAA record.
He also became just the third player in school history to have two, 300-yard passing games over a three-game stretch. Thompson averaged 10.6 yards per completion in the game. His touchdown passes came from 28 and 46 yards and his touchdown run came from 15 yards.
North Texas returns to action this Saturday when they host Western Kentucky at 6 p.m. at Apogee Stadium.
