DENTON, Texas - The North Texas men's basketball win over Texas Tech was special for many reasons, now the Mean Green Radio Network has another reason to add to that list. George Dunham and Hank Dickenson of the MGRN were recognized by the TAPB (Texas Associated Press Broadcasters) as the second best sports play-by-play broadcast in the State of Texas.
It's the first time the MGRN has been honored with an award from the organization. The pair was honored for their work in the Mean Green's 92-83 overtime win over Texas Tech on November 16.
"We are honored to receive this kind of recognition for what we do with our radio broadcasts," said Deputy Athletic Director Hank Dickenson. "We take our radio network very seriously and try and present the highest quality broadcast possible for each and every game. The support we receive from our affiliates is invaluable as well and we can't thank them enough for what they do for us every game."
All North Texas games are broadcast on 88.1 FM KNTU and 100.7 FM KWRD. The TAPB Convention will be held on April 16 at the Dallas Marriott Quorum and the MGRN will receive its award that night.
