Volleyball Plays For West Division Title Sunday

DENTON, Texas (11/9/12) - The North Texas volleyball team is one step closer to the Sun Belt Conference West Division title with the 3-1 victory tonight against Arkansas State at the Mean Green Volleyball Center. The Mean Green will play for the division crown on Sunday afternoon against UALR.
North Texas improves to 22-11 and 8-5 in the conference, while Arkansas State falls to 17-12 and 7-6 in the Sun Belt. The Mean Green sweeps the conference series against the Red Wolves. The 22 wins are tied for the fourth-most single-season victories in school history.
North Texas took the first two sets (25-20 and 25-18), but Arkansas State came back to take the third, 25-22. The Mean Green sealed the win with a 25-22 decision in the fourth set. The Mean Green won the first set behind a .333 attack percentage, recording only five errors. North Texas did not hit above .200 in the next three sets but was aided by seven service aces and 10 total team blocks.
Carnae Dillard led the Mean Green with her fourth double-double of the seasons (20 kills, 14 digs). She also served up four aces, a personal best. Karissa Flack and Courtney Windham joined Dillard in double-figures with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. The 13 kills ties a career high for Flack, and the .476 attack percentage was a team high and also a personal best.
With five block assists on the night, Windham sets the single-season block assists record at North Texas with 122. With her 18 digs on the night, Shelby Tamura moves into fourth place on the single-season digs list with 547.
