Coaches' Caravan Closes 2016 Tour At North Texas Fairgrounds

DENTON - The North Texas Coaches' Caravan wrapped up its five-stop 2016 tour of the Metroplex Wednesday night, drawing a big crowd to a new venue, the North Texas Fairgrounds in Denton.
Burgers and brats were cooked by North Texas fans from Stubb's Bar-B-Q, live music was provided by Ed Vargas, and the evening ended with a panel discussion emceed by voice of the Mean Green Dave Barnett and featured football coach Seth Littrell, women's basketball coach Jalie Mitchell, and men's basketball coach Tony Benford.
This year's caravan made appearances at The Rustic in Dallas, Times Ten Cellars in Fort Worth, Park Place Lexus in Plano and First State Bank in Gainesville.
The evening also marked the final Mean Green Club event for Taryn Houghton, the MGC's coordinator and the Club's heart and soul. Taryn, the organizer of countless MGC events from caravans to tailgates to the annual Mean Green Club Reception, the liaison to Apogee Stadium suite holders and major donors and an integral part of the Club's day-to-day operations, is moving on in June to a new job on campus. She will be Director of Development for the University's Alumni Scholarship Program.
