Ejiya, Hall Selected To NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

PASADENA, Calif. – North Texas linebacker E.J. Ejiya and cornerback Kemon Hall have been selected to participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl at the Rose Bowl Stadium on January 19, 2019.
The pair each earned first team all-Conference USA honors for their play in 2018, helping the Mean Green defense to a major turnaround from 2017, allowing 13.2 points per game less in 2018.
Ejiya ranks fourth nationally in tackles for loss with 23.0 and leads the Mean Green in sacks with 9.0, which ranks fourth in C-USA. His 113 total tackles are also fourth most in the conference. Ejiya has 11 quarterback hurries, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked extra point in 12 starts. Ejiya grades out as elite, and the top rated defensive player for the Mean Green, with a grade of 86.5 from Pro Football Focus. That ranks him 26th among all FBS linebackers and he has 52 total pressures in 809 defensive snaps.
Hall has been one of the steadiest performers at CB in the country, and in 10 appearances, all starts, Hall ranks third in FBS in passes defended (1.7 per game) and has posted five interceptions, two of which he has brought back for touchdowns (in wins over SMU and at Arkansas). Hall ranks seventh in the country in interceptions, has posted 43 tackles, one for loss, and has broken up 12 passes. Hall grades out as the Mean Green's second-best rated defensive player according to Pro Football Focus, at 85.3, which is classified as elite. He ranks within the top 30 nationally among corners.
Ejiya and Hall are the first Mean Green players to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, which began in 2012. Nearly 200 scouts, player personnel staff, general managers and head coaches from all 32 NFL teams are expected to be in attendance to watch practices, conduct interviews and review tape of the participants. 42 of the 112 players who participated last year received invitations to the 2018 NFL Combine and 19 were selected in the 2018 NFL Draft.
