Recruiting Finished, UNT Preps For Spring

DENTON – Wednesday is National Signing Day, however it is quiet on the recruiting front at North Texas. The Mean Green secured its entire class during the early signing period on Dec. 19, inking a star-studded group of 23.
Head coach Seth Littrell and company finished the early period with the top-ranked class in Conference USA, and finished Wednesday as the No. 2 class in the league behind only Marshall (27 commits). All but one of the Mean Green's 23 commitments are ranked as three-star prospects by the 247Sports Composite ranking system, with the 23rd being Virginia Tech graduate transfer D'Andre Plantin. Plantin is not factored into the class according to 247Sports, however, he was originally a three-star prospect out of Norcross, Georgia.
Five of the 23 enrolled early in January have been participating in winter workouts and will compete during spring practice.
North Texas has seen some turnover in its coaching staff, as running backs coach Patrick Cobbs replaced Tashard Choice (Georgia Tech) earlier this week. A new cornerbacks coach is expected to be named shortly and the Mean Green will also fill their vacant offensive coordinator role following Graham Harrell's departure (USC).
The Mean Green open spring practice on March 18, and will host the Spring Game, presented by Verus Advisors, on Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. from Apogee Stadium.
For 2019 football season tickets, the North Texas Ticket Office will send out notices this month for season-ticket renewals and is accepting deposits for new 2019 season tickets. For information on 2019 tickets, visit the Mean Green football ticket page on meangreensports.com.
