DENTON - The 1995 Mean Green football team, which played UNT's inaugural season in its return to Division I-A, will be honored prior to the 2019 season opener on Aug. 31 at Apogee Stadium.
All members of the '95 team are invited to the game and a pre-game tailgate hosted by the North Texas Letterwinners Association. The tailgate will take place in the NTLA hospitality area beginning at 3 p.m. The 1995 players, coaches and staff will gather at the entrance to the south end zone at 6 p.m. for the on-field recognition. The game begins at 6:30.

Dues-paying members of the NTLA may use their complimentary tickets, and can sit in the same section as the '95 team, which will be Section 103. NTLA members should call the North Texas Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 to claim their complimentary tickets.
North Texas spent 13 seasons competing in NCAA's Division I-AA, in the Southland Conference. The Mean Green returned to Division I-A in 1995 and, playing as an independent, faced a brutal schedule that included Missouri, Oklahoma, LSU and Alabama.
The Mean Green scored its first win back in D-IA over Oregon State of the Pac 10 at Fouts Field. The team featured quarterback Jason Mills, who is still in the top 10 in school history in career passing yards; Brian Waters, who went on to be a six-time All Pro offensive linemen for the Kansas City Chiefs, an NFL Man of the Year, a UNT Athletic Hall of Fame inductee; and Clay Jennings, who returned to North Texas this year as an assistant coach.
