Fine Named To Campbell Tyler Rose Watch List

The Peggs, Oklahoma, native enters his fourth season as a starter as the FBS' active national leader in career passing yards (9,417) and is the two-time reigning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year. He leads a Mean Green offense that has averaged 35.1 points per game over the last two seasons.
Fine threw for 3,793 yards, 27 touchdowns to just five interceptions, completed 64.6% of his passes and added two more scores on the ground in 2018.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
The Watch List announced today will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to 5 finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 15, 2020.
Fine enters his senior campaign as a member of several national award watch lists: the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Davey O'Brien, Maxwell and was named the Conference USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year as voted on by the league's head coaches.The Mean Green open the 2019 season with a white-out game against Abilene Christian on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 6:30 p.m. from Apogee Stadium.
