Mean Green Tied For Fifth After Day One

TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Audrey Tan led the way for the North Texas golf team on Friday in the opening round of the MountainView Collegiate and has the No. 30 Mean Green tied for fifth in a stacked field at 3-under par.
Tan shot a 4-under 68 and is tied for fifth heading into Saturday's second round after recording five birdies, while sophomore Emilie Ricaud and junior Katie Finley both shot even-par and are tied for 20th. The Mean Green are one shot up on No. 9 Baylor and tied with UNLV. They are six shots back of fourth-place No. 8 Oklahoma State.
"We played fairly solid today," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "The weather conditions were ideal, and I feel like we can play better over the weekend. Our tee time is much better tomorrow, and hopefully the pace of play will be better and the greens will be smoother since we tee off second."
Everyone in the North Texas lineup was solid on Friday, as senior Lauren Cox and junior Patricia Sinolungan each shot 1-over par and are tied for 30th.
The Mean Green will tee off at 10:30 a.m., for Saturday's second round before concluding the tournament on Sunday.
