BATON ROUGE, La. - Due to more heavy rainfall, the second day of the North Texas women's golf team's NCAA Regional at The University Club was officially washed out at approximately noon on Tuesday.
This came after Monday's opening round was postponed because the course was deemed unplayable after overnight and morning showers Monday gave way to hours of sunshine and dry conditions.
The Mean Green are playing in just their second NCAA Regional in program history at the home course of LSU with the top six teams after three rounds of play moving on to the NCAA Championship on May 21-26, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The current plan is for a 10 a.m. shotgun start on Wednesday to begin play, and fans can follow along live on Golfstat as well as getting updates on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. According to the NCAA Participants Manual, the tournament must be completed by Wednesday night and it cannot be extended to Thursday or Friday. Forecasts in Baton Rouge call for a 70% chance of rain on Wednesday. If the teams get in 18 holes, the round will count and the top six teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, but if at least 18 holes aren't completed, the top six teams according to ranking would automatically advance.
