DENTON – North Texas track and field will wrap up regular season competition this weekend with meets at Texas A&M Saturday and Abilene Christian Sunday.
The Mean Green head to the A&M Aggie Invitational May 8 with a 6:30 p.m. start.
"A&M is an opportunity for us to try catch up on some qualifying marks and improvement in marks for Conference USA seeding and NCAA first round," director of track and field Carl Sheffield said. "The weather has been not good for us in April, and it's typically where we really try to create marks for competition, so this meet provides an opportunity for us to move up the descending order list."
On May 9, North Texas will participate in the Last Chance Meet inside Elmer Gray Stadium beginning at 11 a.m.
"We split the team. I hate splitting the team, but the opportunity in Abilene for throwers and the pole vaulters are environment and wind related. The discus and javelin throwers have a bit more of their ideal conditions at this time of year," Sheffield said.
