Soccer Drops C-USA Opener At FAU

BOCA RATON, Florida — The North Texas soccer team (RV) lost to Florida Atlantic in double overtime 2-1 in its Conference USA opener Thursday night in Boca Raton.
The Owls (3-4-2) scored the golden goal with two and a half minutes left in the match.
The Mean Green (5-2-2) opened up the scoring in the 39th minute when sophomore Devyn Flannery tapped in a go-ahead goal for her first of the year. Coming off of a corner, junior Quincy Sheppard headed the ball to Flannery inside the six-yard box where she was waiting to score.
However, FAU quickly responded.
Less than 90 seconds later the Owls scored the equalizer on a cross into the box.
UNT mustered just two shots on goal in the 108-minute match. The two shots tie a season-low and is the lowest mark they've had in a conference match since 2019.
