DALLAS (Dec. 8, 2022) - After stellar seasons on the field in 2022, North Texas had four players selected to the Dave Campbell's Texas Football (DCTF) All-Texas team which honors the top FBS football players in the state of Texas.
Seniors Manase Mose and KD Davis were selected as First Team honorees while defensive standouts Larry Nixon III and Mazin Richards landed on the Second Team.
Davis continues to collect honors after a strong senior campaign where he broke the UNT career record for tackles with 421 in his time with the Mean Green. The 2022 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year, Davis leads C-USA and ranks 10th nationally with 132 tackles this season and needs just 12 tackles to break the single-season record of 143 held by Trent Touchstone (1989).
Mose, meanwhile, anchored a UNT offense that was one of the best in the country. A stalwart along the offensive line, Mose led an offensive line that helped UNT rank inside the top-30 in FBS in total offense, rushing offense and scoring offense. With one more start in the Frisco Bowl, Mose will break the NCAA record for consecutive starts with 61 in his time at UNT.
Nixon III and Richards, meanwhile, were both strong performers on the defensive side of the ball for North Texas all season. Nixon was second on the team and 11th in C-USA with 94 tackles this season while Richards led the Mean Green with 7.5 sacks, a figure that was tied for fifth in C-USA.
The Mean Green return to action with the Mean Green on Saturday, Dec. 17 when they play in the Frisco Bowl at 8:15 pm inside Toyota Stadium against Boise State.
