DALLAS - For the third straight tournament, the Mean Green women's golf team has produced the Conference USA Golfer of the Week as senior Audrey Tan was given the award, the league announced on Wednesday, after a standout performance in Jacksonville, Florida, at the UNF Collegiate.
The nod marks the third straight event the team has played that has seen a different member of the squad earn the honor after Patricia Sinolungan was given the award after winning the Tulane Classic and Emilie Ricaud earned the honor two weeks ago after a stellar performance at the loaded ICON Invitational.
The win marks Tan's second such honor this season with the first coming back in the fall season, and the fourth of the defending C-USA champion's career.
"Audrey is no stranger to Golfer of the Week, and it is great to see her be honored again," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "She really played solid this week and stepped up in the final round.
"I'm thrilled to have three different players honored this spring. It speaks volumes for the depth of our roster."
Tan, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, excels with her wedges and the short track at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club played into her hands along with the tropical weather conditions.
"As she was walking to the 10th tee, it began raining and we asked her if it reminded her a home," Akers said. "She smiled then birdied three holes in a row. Going into the event, I knew wedge play was key. I had a feeling Audrey would do well, as she has the best wedge game I have ever seen."
Tan, who is ranked 96th in the country, leads the team after six events this season with a 72.17 stroke average and has the low round of the season with a 66 at the season-opening Sam Golden Invitational. She has four rounds in the 60s this season and three top-5 finishes.

The Mean Green will return to action March 18-20, in Tucson, Arizona, at the MountainView Intercollegiate.
