
Women's Tennis Announces 2022-23 Schedule

Mean Green set to play eight fall tournaments, 21 match competitions
DENTON, TEXAS – After advancing to the Conference-USA Championship Quarterfinals a season ago, the North Texas women's tennis team and head coach Sujay Lama have announced its schedule for the 2022-23 season.
The Mean Green will compete in up to eight individual tournaments this fall before starting the team season in January.
UNT kicks off its fall season with the ITA Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the Boston Invitational hosted by Harvard University. The team will be split between the two tournaments that both occur Sept. 16-18.
Following the opening weekend, North Texas will travel to down the road to Fort Worth for the ITA Regionals Sept. 22-26. If any student-athletes play well enough to qualify, the ITA All-American Championship will happen two weeks later, Oct. 1-9, in Cary, N.C.
Between the ITA events, the Mean Green will take a trip to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the USTA Intercollegiate Championship.
The fall schedule closes out with three consecutive Invitational tournaments, starting with the SMU Invitational on Oct. 14-16, followed by the ITF W15 Norman Oct. 31-Nov. 6 and finishing with the Tulsa Invitational Nov. 4-6.
After the fall season concludes, UNT will take two months off from action before returning on Jan. 13-14 when they open the team season against Miami of Ohio and St. John's in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Mean Green will follow the opening weekend up with a trip to Austin, Texas, to take on defending National Champion Texas on Jan. 20.
The first home competition of the season will take place Jan. 22 against DePaul and will start a string of four straight home matches against Lamar (Jan. 28), Midwestern State (Jan. 28) and Arkansas State (Feb. 4).
The following weekend will feature a trip to Lynchburg, Va., for matchups against Maryland and Liberty Feb. 11-12 before UNT returns to Denton to take on South Florida and Dallas Baptist in a doubleheader on Feb. 19.
North Texas then travels to Miami, Fla., to take on both North Florida and Florida International Feb. 25-26 to open Conference-USA regular season play.
The following weekend features three matches in three days for UNT with a home contest against Tulane on March 10, a road contest at UTSA on March 11 and a neutral site match in San Antonio against Western Kentucky on March 12.
Down the stretch of the season, UNT will head to Houston to play both Charlotte and Rice in the same weekend (March 18-19) before welcoming Tulsa to the Waranch Tennis Complex March 31.
The final road matchup for UNT will take place in Houston against Houston on April 2 and the Mean Green will finish the regular season at home against UT-Arlington on April 12.
After the completion of the regular season, UNT will host the Conference USA Championship at Waranch Tennis Complex April 20-23 with an automatic bid in the NCAA Championship on the line.
