Tan, Ricaud Leading UNT Going to Final Round

NORMAN, Okla. - UNT graduate student Audrey Tan fired her second consecutive 2-under 68 in Sunday's second round of the OU Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club and senior Emilie Ricaud followed her opening-round 66 with a second-round 71 to put the Mean Green in sixth place at 2-over par as a team heading into Monday's final round.
Tan, who is tied for fifth on the leaderboard at 4-under, birdied four times in a six-hole stretch to pass Ricaud, who ended Sunday at 3-under and in a tie for eighth, while the Mean Green are in a tight pack behind leader Florida State (8-under). The Mean Green are just four shots back of second-place Oklahoma. Though the first Golfstat poll of the season is yet to be released, there are three teams in the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll's top 25 - No. 16 Florida State, No. 17 Clemson and No. 19 Oklahoma State, while Baylor, Tulsa and Virginia Tech are all receiving votes. The Mean Green enter Monday's final round ahead of three of those six teams.
Junior Shreya Pal also shot a 1-over 71 on Sunday with the help of an eagle on the Par-4 second hole - one of two eagles for UNT on the day along with freshman Mason Lewis.
Lewis, who is competing as an individual, is at 2-under after her second consecutive 69 and tied for 12th after birdies on her final two holes on Sunday to break par again.
UNT will conclude play in Norman on Monday and will be paired with Oklahoma State and Baylor, and fans can follow the tournament live on Golfstat.
