Lewis Goes Low to Lead UNT Women On Day 1 in Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The UNT women's golf team opened play at The Blessings Collegiate on Monday and sit in eighth place, one shot back of No. 9 Clemson, behind a stellar opening day from sophomore Mason Lewis, who shot an even-par 72 and enters Round 2 on Tuesday in a tie for seventh place.
Lewis tallied five birdies on the back-nine (six in the round) on the par-72, 6,503-yard Blessings Golf Club. She was followed up by senior Ellie Roth, who is tied for 25th at 4-over par.
The event features a unique twist in that men's and women's teams from each participating school are playing and a combined team trophy will be awarded aside from the men's and women's crowns. The teams play in fivesomes with everyone from each school playing together. It is also featured on Golf Channel and Peacock, with live broadcasts on each of the three days from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
The Mean Green will tee off for Tuesday's second round from the first hole at 10:45 a.m.
