Final Round Canceled As UNT Women Finish Sixth

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The UNT women's golf team got in seven holes at The Blessings Collegiate on Wednesday before lightning in the area forced the cancelation of the remainder of the event.
That meant results would be carried over from the end of Tuesday's second round, and No. 38 UNT finished sixth in the event that featured seven top-50 teams and three in the top 10.
Sophomore Mason Lewis and senior Emilie Ricaud led the way for the Mean Green after Ricaud shot an 3-under-par 69 Tuesday to move into a tie for 12th place at 2-over par. Lewis tied for fifth after her 2-under 70, thanks to three straight birdies on 15, 16 and 17, put her at 2-under for the tournament.
"I'm overall pleased with the finish against those caliber teams, and the exposure we gained on TV is huge," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "I had five emails from recruits in the last 12 hours reaching out to me. I normally don't get that many at once. That timing was interesting. Mason's performance on a big stage was really exciting. She's been trending in a good trajectory coming into his year, her swing looks great and her overall demeanor was really good this week. I'm excited for the future with so many great players on the team.
