Football Hits Milestones In Last-Second Win

DENTON – Noah Rauschenberg's 32-yard walk-off field goal gave UNT a 45-42 win over UAB on Saturday at DATCU Stadium, as UNT football set multiple program records and milestones. The win was the second UNT win over UAB in program history and also the second via a game-winning field goal as time expired after a 46-43 win in Denton in 2017.

The Mean Green rolled up a season-high 643 yards – the fifth-most in program history - and junior quarterback Chandler Rogers eclipsed 3,000 passing yards on the season, junior running back Ayo Adeyi hit the 1,000-yard rushing mark and sophomore wideout Ja'Mori Maclin got to 1,000 yards receiving – the first time in program history three players have accomplished that feat.

Rogers attempted a career-high 53 passes and threw for 404 yards, which made him the second quarterback in program history to have two 400-yard passing games in a season and his 3,383 passing yards puts him fourth on the all-time single-season list.

With the win, UNT (5-7, 3-5) ends the season with consecutive wins and consecutive games with two 100-yard rushers, as Oscar Adaway III and Ayo Adeyi both had 100 yards for the second straight game. It was also the first time in program history UNT has had a 300-yard passer, two 100-yard rushers and two 100-yard receivers in a game.

Head coach Eric Morris completed his first year on consecutive wins and said he was proud of the resiliency the team showed in winning its first one-score game of the year and being down 14 points at halftime. It was also the first win for UNT this season when trailing after three quarters.

"We've been resilient all year," Morris said. "The biggest thing is we learned from our lumps this year and offensively, we stepped up time and time again late. Chandler showed what he's about and continued to move the ball down the field and these running backs are just special. Our playmakers made plays. I'm just proud we found a way to win this game and we can send the seniors off that way."

The Mean Green win in the teams' eighth all-time meeting cuts UAB's lead in the all-time series to 6-2, and it was the first UNT win in the series since a 46-43 win in Denton in 2017, which was also a game-winning field goal as time expired.
UNT's captains for the season are Stone Earle, Febechi Nwaiwu, Mazin Richards, Logan Wilson and JP Hadley.
UNT entered the game 0-7 when trailing after three quarters and trailed 28-25 going to the fourth quarter.
UNT now has 33 touchdown passes on the season, which is the second-most in school history and one shy of the program record.
The 643 total yards for UNT marked the first time this season to eclipse 600 yards in a game and the seventh time this season with at least 500 yards, which extended the program record for a single season. The 643-yard game is the fifth most in program history and the most since they had 671 against LA Tech in 2022.
UNT's 495.8 yards per game this season is the second-most in program history behind the 2020 mark of 513.2.
With Chandler Rogers hitting 3,000 passing yards on the season, Ayo Adeyi eclipsing 1,000 yards rushing and Ja'Mori Maclin getting to 1,000 yards receiving, it marked the first time in program history UNT has had one of each in the same season.
Ja'Mori Maclin eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the season to become the first UNT receiver to have 1,000 yards in a season since Jaelon Darden had 1,190 in 2020.
Ayo Adeyi eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark to become the first UNT rusher to have 1,000 yards in a season since Deandre Torrey had 1,215 in 2021.
For the first time in program history, UNT had two 100-yard rushers and two 100-yard receivers in the same game.
Landon Sides and Ja'Mori Maclin both had 100 yards receiving, which was the first time UNT has had two players with 100-yard receiving days in the same game since Damon Ward Jr., and Roderic Burns did it against Memphis earlier this season.
The Mean Green had two 100-yard rushers in Oscar Adaway III and Ayo Adeyi, marking the second time in as many games the duo has each had 100 yards in a game. It was the third time since Oct. 15, 2022, against LA Tech, that Adaway III and Adeyi both eclipsed the century mark.
For the fourth straight game, a freshman led the UNT defense in tackles, as Patrick Smith and Jayven Anderson tied Jordan Brown with six.
Junior quarterback Chandler Rogers (Mansfield, Texas) made his 10th start for the Mean Green and finished the day with 404 yards and three touchdown passes on 30-of-53 passing.
- Rogers now has multiple touchdown passes in 10 games this season, including nine of his 10 starts.
- Rogers' 404 yards makes him the second quarterback in UNT history with two 400-yard passing games in a single season, joining Mason Fine (2018). He is also the third quarterback in program history with two career 400-yard passing games and is one shy of Fine's career total of three.
- Rogers' 404 passing yards gave him his sixth 300-yard game of the season, which is the most for a UNT quarterback since Mason Fine's seven in 2017.
- At 263 completions, Rogers is now fourth on the single-season list and 40 behind Mason Fine in 2018 for third.
- Rogers' TD:INT ratio of 29:5 is the best in program history with a minimum of 13 touchdowns, passing Mason Fine's 27:5 in 2018.
- With his third-quarter completion to Damon Ward Jr., Rogers moved into fourth on the single-season passing yards list.
- With his 28-yard, first-quarter completion to Trey Cleveland, Rogers became the fourth quarterback in program history to eclipse the 3,000-yard passing mark in a season.
- Rogers now with 3,383 yards this season, which is good for fourth place all-time, and he became the fourth player in program history to throw for 3,000 yards in a single season. He joins Austin Aune, Mason Fine and Mitch Maher on the list.
- Rogers' 281.9 passing yards per game is now the third-best in single-season program history behind Mason Fine's 2018 (291.8) and 2017 (289.4) seasons.
- Rogers' 29-yard touchdown pass to Landon Sides with 11:58 to play was the 53rd of his career and 29th of the season, which ties him for third on the single-season list with Mason Fine (2019).
- Rogers' 2-yard touchdown pass to Xzavior Kautai with 32 seconds left in the third quarter was the 52nd of his career and 28th of the season, which moved him into fourth alone on the program's single-season touchdown pass list.
- Rogers' 19-yard touchdown pass to Landon Sides with 9:42 left in the first quarter was the 51st of his career and 27th of the season, which put him in a tie for fourth on the program's single-season touchdown pass list with Mason Fine (2018).
Junior running back Oscar Adaway III (North Little Rock, Arkansas) finished with 111 yards on 17 carries.
- His 111 yards gave him his seventh 100-yard rushing game of his career and second in as many games.
Junior RB Ayo Adeyi (Mansfield, Texas) finished with 18 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
- Adeyi's 132 yards gave him his seventh 100-yard rushing effort this season, which is tied for sixth in program history and ninth of his career, which is ninth in program history.
- Adeyi's 7.11 yards per carry this season ranks third in single-season program history behind Ray Renfro (1951) and Adeyi's 2022 mark of 7.21.
- Adeyi's current career mark of 6.84 yards per carry would put him at the top of the program's all-time list ahead of Ray Renfro (1948-51), who had 6.76 yards per carry in his career on 109 less carries than Adeyi has through three seasons.
- Adeyi's 1-yard rushing touchdown with 5:30 remaining was his fifth of the season and 15th of his career.
- Adeyi's 7-yard touchdown run with 11:37 left in the second quarter was his fourth of the season and 14th of his career.
- Adeyi's two rushing touchdowns marks the first time a player has had two rushing touchdowns in a game since Isaiah Johnson against ACU on Sept. 30, 2023.
Sophomore WR Ja'Mori Maclin (Kirkwood, Missouri) finished with nine catches for a team-high 118 yards.
- His nine catches is a new career high for a single game.
- His 118 yards gives him four 100-yard games this season.
- Maclin ends the season with 1,004 yards to become the second 1,000-yard receiver under Eric Morris as a head coach – the first was Taylor Grimes in 2021 at UIW.
- His 1,004 yards puts him ninth all-time on the single-season list.
- Maclin is the first player in program history to average better than 17.0 yards per catch in a single season in which he also had 1,000 receiving yards.
Freshman WR Landon Sides (Denton, Texas) finished with six catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
- With Sides' two touchdowns, he became the first freshman with two touchdown receptions in a game since Loronzo Thompson had two in the 2020 Myrtle Beach Bowl against Appalachian State.
- Sides' 100 yards was the most for a true freshman since David Brown had 118 yards against ULM on Nov. 23, 1991.
- Sides' 29-yard touchdown reception with 11:58 to play was his fourth of the season and of his career.
- Sides' 19-yard touchdown reception with 9:42 left in the first quarter was his third of the season and of his career.
- Sides' three touchdown receptions tied for the most for a true freshman since Jaelon Darden's three in 2017.
- Sides' 100 yards is a new career high, besting his previous high of 61 yards against ACU.
Junior WR Damon Ward, Jr. (Beaumont, Texas) finished with five catches for 53 yards.
Senior WR Roderic Burns (Houston) finished with two catches for 17 yards.

- Burns finishes his career with 2,125 yards to pass John Love (1965-66) by one yard to finish ninth on the program's career receiving list.
Junior WR Trey Cleveland (Arlington, Texas) finished with three catches for 61 yards.
Senior WR/KR Kaylon Horton (Houston) finished with 57 kickoff return yards on three returns.
- Horton now has 695 kickoff return yards this season and passed Brelan Chancellor (2013) for the fifth-most in a single season, since 2011.
- Horton now has two of the top five kickoff return seasons in program history after he totaled 699 last season.
Redshirt freshman DB Patrick Smith (Sugar Land, Texas) finished with six tackles to tie the team high, including five solo stops, and a pass breakup.
Freshman DB Jayven Anderson (Houston) finished with six tackles to tie the team high, including two solo stops and a QB hurry.
Junior LB Jordan Brown (Huntsville, Texas) finished with six tackles to tie the team high, including three solo stops, a half-sack and a half-tackle for-loss.
- His first-quarter half-sack gave him 3.5 this season and 5.5 in his career.
Junior DB Logan Wilson (Dallas) finished with four tackles, including two solo stops.
Senior LB Carson Kropp (Owasso, Okla.) finished with four tackles, including three solo stops.
Senior DL Mazin Richards (Burleson, Texas) finished with two tackles, including a solo stop, a tackle for-loss and two QB hurries.
Redshirt freshman LB Ethan Wesloski (McKinney, Texas) finished with four tackles, including a solo stop.

Senior kicker Noah Rauschenberg (Tulsa, Oklahoma) went 4-for-4 on extra points and 3-for-3 on field goals, including the game-winning 32-yard field goal as time expired.
- Rauschenberg is now 46-for-46 on extra point attempts this season and is 16-for-19 on field goal attempts.
- With 16 made field goals this season, Noah Rauschenberg is now tied with Ethan Mooney (2019) for fifth in program history in field goals made in a single season.
- In addition, with his four made extra points, Rauschenberg is along in fifth in made XPs with 46 this season.
