DENTON, Texas – UNT volleyball middle blocker Sh'Diamond Holly was named a first team all-conference selection for the American Athletic Conference, the league announced on Tuesday.
"I'm proud of Sh'Diamond and her accomplishments this season," head coach Kristee Porter said. "She has consistently been one of our top performers and her ability to contribute at a high level, both offensively and defensively, is impressive. She was defensive player of the year last year and earning a first team selection this year shows you how competitive she is and how hard she works."
Holly became the eighth player in program history with two or more first team all-conference selections and first since Rhett Robinson tallied three from 2019-21. Holly won Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-conference honors last season.
The senior middle blocker leads The American with a .415 hitting percentage on 205 kills and 388 attacks for the season. Her career attack rate of .394 currently ranks first in program history by 30 points over Amanda Chamberlain (2014-17) at a .364 clip. She also ranks third in the conference with 124 total blocks, which ranks ninth in UNT single-season history.
Holly transferred to North Texas last season after three seasons at New Orleans where she earned second team All-Southland Conference honors in 2021. She became the first player in UNT history to win all-conference honors in three different leagues.
The Mean Green travel to El Paso for its first round NIVC matchup with UTEP. First serve is set for 8:30 p.m. CT from Memorial Gym.
