
Women’s Tennis Drops Pair of Matches in San Antonio

Mean Green play both matches with just four healthy players
SAN ANTONIO (March 12, 2023) – Playing with just four healthy players in a pair of matches in San Antonio on Saturday and Sunday, No. 69 UNT was unable to grab a victory against UTSA and Western Kentucky at the UTSA Tennis Center.
Playing without normal starters Jasmine Adams, Gloria Alogo Piqueras, Olivia Malm and Olivia Halvorsen, the Mean Green fell 4-0 against UTSA Saturday and 4-1 versus WKU Sunday.
Against UTSA, the combination of Nformi Stadfany and Matilde Morais held a 3-2 lead at line one but the Mean Green forfeited line three and fell 6-0 at line two to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, UNT was forced to forfeit lines five and six to make the team score 3-0 in favor of UTSA.
The Roadrunners then completed the 4-0 win with a 6-0, 6-1 win at line four.
Against WKU on Sunday, Morais and Stadfany picked up a 6-3 victory at line one after forfeiting line three to tie the doubles point at 1-1.
The Mean Green were unable to complete the full doubles point win, however, falling 6-3 at line two.
In singles play, Kexuan Zhou was able to grab a 6-4, 6-4 victory in straight sets. The win was the eighth singles win for Zhou this season as she improves to 8-1 overall this season.
Forfeiting lines five and six, WKU needed just one singles win to take the match and was able to grab it with a 7-6, 7-6 victory at line three to win 4-1.
Next Up
UNT will be back in action Friday in Charlotte, N.C., when they take on Charlotte at 12:00 PM followed by a Saturday contest against Rice at 1:00 PM.
