
Track & Field Set for Michael Johnson Invitational

Both the Mean Green men’s and women’s teams are ranked No. 5 in C-USA
DENTON, Texas – UNT Track & Field hits the road again for the Michael Johnson Invitational Friday and Saturday at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium in Waco, Texas.

The Mean Green will be competing against host Baylor, Abilene Christian, Kansas State, Sam Houston, Arizona State, Kent State, TAMUC, Kentucky, TCU, Boston, Nebraska, Texas, Illinois State, Texas State, IWU, Northern Illinois, Texas Tech, Iowa, Northwestern State, and UT Arlington.

Coming into the meet, KeAyla Dove is ranked No. 4 in the West and No. 8 in the nation in the shot put, while Jaleisa Shaffer is 26th in the West and 39th nationally. Madison Sloan is 38th in the West in the hammer throw.

On the men's side, Karlington Anunagba is 14th in the West (35th nationally) in the 100 meters, and Kevin Grubbs (discus) is 16th in the West and 29th in the nation. Jordan Coates-McBride is 30th in the West in the 400-meter hurdles, Vitus Hansgaard and Zion Hill are 25th and 26th, respectively, in the West javelin rankings, and Wardell Glaspie is 30th in the West in the discus.

With two meets left until the Conference USA Outdoor Championships in Denton, both the UNT men's and women's teams are ranked No. 5 in the conference by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Field events will kick off Friday with the women's hammer throw at 11 a.m. CT, while the women's 400-meter hurdles will get running events going a 6 p.m. CT. Saturday's field events will start at 11 a.m. CT with the women's javelin throw, while running events will begin at 12 p.m. CT with the women's 100-meter hurdles prelims.
